OK, so 1983 wasn't a great year, but this is just fine!
OK, I admit it, I'm a '60s and '70s Deadhead. Not much after 1981 or '82 really held much interest for me, even though I continued to follow the band and last saw them in Vegas in May '95, just months before Jerry's passing.
This show is cleanly performed. It's not one of DSO's "Top 10," but it's not bad. The music is good and the audio is nice and clear. No complaints here.
It's hard to judge this show from six years down the road. DSO is just so much tighter now! Still, even the early shows bring enjoyment, so kick back, put on these three CDs and enjoy the music.
BTW, thanks for telling us where the CD breaks are. I'm so used to d1t1, d1t2, d2t1, d3t1, etc., that I was caught off guard by the way this show was set up. But the directions at the bottom say CD 1 is Set 1, tracks 1-8, CD2 is Set 2, tracks 1 through 7, and CD 3 is Set 2, tracks 8-18. SORRY, but I found that CD2 worked better with Set 2, tracks 1-6, after which there is a natural pause, and then CD3 picks up on Set 2, track 7 and goes through 18. Using this, there's no abrupt change between tracks 7 and 8. CD2 comes in at 55 minutes, and CD3 is in the 73 minute range. Other than that one correction, this is some good sounds. Download it, burn it, and kick back and take in some great sounds!
